Self-Study Framework
SAT Do It Yourself
With passion, discipline, and hard work, students can excel on the exam. Here's the framework we'd recommend if you're going it alone.
✦ Step 1
Diagnose where you stand
- 1.Download the College Board Blue Book app and take an initial test to find your starting point.
- 2.Based on your Reading/Writing and Math scores, match yourself to Khan Academy content — Foundations, Medium, or Advanced.
- 3.Plan a timeline: 6–10 weeks of content before test day.
✦ Step 2
Test practice cycle
Start 4 weeks before the exam. Cycle through College Board tests — take a test, then analyze mistakes on weekdays and weekends progressively. The analysis matters more than the raw practice count.
✦ What separates high scorers
Three qualities to build
Strong Motivation
Discipline sustained across weeks — not just when the test is close.
Intelligent, Disciplined Work
Careful study of concepts, not just rushing through problem sets.
Deep Mistake Analysis
Uncovering the blind spots behind repeated errors — a parent or friend as observer helps.
